1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using LexiByte, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the application.

2. Description of Service

LexiByte is a multilingual reading assistant for children and their families, available in 15 languages. The application allows you to:
  • Read PDF books in multiple languages;
  • Look up word definitions and translations using AI;
  • Generate and take reading-comprehension quizzes;
  • Chat with LexiBot, an AI reading assistant, for hints and explanations;
  • Measure reading speed (WPM) and effective reading time;
  • Create family member profiles and let parents set reading tasks and plans for their children;
  • Track reading progress, streaks, and quiz results on dashboards;
  • Save reading progress and favorites, locally or via Google Drive.
LexiByte is currently provided free of charge. If paid features are introduced in the future, these terms will be updated accordingly.

3. Permitted Use

LexiByte is intended for personal and family use. You agree to:
  • Use the application only for lawful purposes;
  • Not attempt to circumvent, disable, or interfere with security features;
  • Not use the application for commercial purposes without prior written authorization;
  • Respect the copyright of any books you import into the application.

4. User Content Responsibility

LexiByte allows you to upload your own PDF files. You are solely responsible for the files you upload and their compliance with applicable copyright laws in your jurisdiction. LexiByte does not host copyrighted content and does not condone the sharing of protected files.

5. Artificial Intelligence

LexiByte integrates third-party AI services (OpenAI) for word definitions, translations, and chat assistance. AI-generated responses are provided for informational purposes only and may contain inaccuracies. LexiByte is not responsible for errors or omissions in AI responses.

6. Google Account and Data

Signing in with Google is optional and enables data synchronization via Google Drive. You are responsible for the security of your Google account. We are not liable for data loss resulting from the deletion of your Google account or your LexiByte folder on Drive.

7. Availability

LexiByte is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee continuous or uninterrupted availability of the application. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time without notice.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, LexiByte and its developers shall not be liable for:
  • Any loss of data, progress, or content;
  • Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use or inability to use the service;
  • The accuracy of translations or definitions provided by the AI.

9. Intellectual Property

The name LexiByte, the application design, and source code are the property of their authors. No part of the application may be reproduced, distributed, or modified without prior authorization.

10. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. In case of material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of LexiByte after any modification constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
